Their house number is at quick glance very similar to ours. No fire. Everyone is okay. My neighbor might be slightly embarrassed.

Long version: We were watching services at Bay Hope Church online. Towards the end of the service someone knocked on our front door rather frantically. I get up, go to the door, and see a firetruck in front of my house, but no firemen. A few doors down they are talking to one of my neighbors (whose address is 1 number different from mine) who had a false alarm. In the meantime my daughter saw the firetruck and went back inside, and a fireman has knocked on our back door. Under the circumstances she lets him in. He walks out through my front door and says, "Honey, I'm home!" He then says our house is fine. Another fireman confirms our neighbor's house is also fine. It felt like the entire neighborhood also came out to see what was happening. Jack was fortunate. He was volunteering at church, so he missed the entire scene. Never a dull moment at our house. LOL 😂
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-84817373357488164082017-07-25T18:48:00.001-04:002017-07-25T18:48:04.876-04:00Pictures from Vacation Earlier This Year

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-60338887191429524782017-06-05T18:17:00.001-04:002017-06-05T18:20:52.113-04:00Amazing things on the horizon!Once again it's been awhile, but I had to post something.

As you are aware if you have ever read this blog, I am in a constant state of growth. It could be physical, personal, professional, or spiritual (I ran out of "p" words).

This time it seems to fall under the categories of personal and professional growth. I am a firm believer in continual learning, so I'm expanding my horizons and educating myself on new platforms and new programs and working on certifications that can help me evolve in this ever changing world of media arts.

Where will I end up professionally speaking?Who knows, but I'm ready for this adventure.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-86246915632354278492014-06-24T10:42:00.000-04:002014-06-24T10:44:14.053-04:00Wow! I've been gone FOR-Ev-eR!Holy Cow!

It's been almost 2 years since my last post!

I'd be amazed if anyone was still following my little blog.

Anyway, a lot has happened in my family's life. We move (about 4 miles). Went through the entire selling of a home/purchasing a new one (we hired and fired one realtor...NEVER hire a friend...hired a new, THEY sold our old house).

We're still getting settled in so I can't promise that I will be as blog attentive as I use to be, but I will try.

For those following my weight loss journey, well I'm still struggling, but I did get a good report from all my doctors this year so that is something.

Be patient with me as I try to do this thing again. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-46364673422552695492012-08-02T09:55:00.002-04:002012-08-02T10:06:53.535-04:00"Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your Kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity" - From the song "Hosanna"

This is part of what I pray everyday, and after the past few days I have to say that my heart is breaking:

While the majority of my Christian friends on BOTH sides of this Chick-Fil-a debate (and, yes, there are Christians on both sides of the debate) have been respectful to and mindful of others who don't agree with them when speaking their minds on the subject, my heart is breaking because I also have other Christian friends who seem to have forgotten both Matthew 7:12 & Matthew 22:36-40 when speaking their minds on the subject. If you're not familiar with these passages, then here they are:

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." - Matthew 7:12 (New International Version)

and

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:36-40 (New International Version)

Sadly, in a few cases I have seen such hate filled bile spewed out, not just from one side but both, from Christians at fellow Christians. I'm not telling you what you should or shouldn't believe on this subject. I'm not even saying that as Christians we will never disagree about anything. What I am saying is that whatever your thoughts are on this matter, your words to others and about others regarding what you believe should come from a place of love and respect for the other person. Why? Because that is what we are called to do, and if we can't do that with other Christians when we disagree, then how can we possibly expect to do that to our neighbors out in the world?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-8484903052193393232012-01-07T14:52:00.000-05:002012-01-07T14:52:31.319-05:00I'm starting up againOk, all the weight that I lost back a few years ago I've pretty much put all of it back on again. This time I've got a goal of simply being healthier, but my 40th birthday in September. I'm using My Fitness Pal to track both my exercise and my caloric intake. I will try my best to update at least the weight loss ticker and give you occassional updates. Merry Christmas to you all.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-77680932282107073212010-12-03T20:57:00.008-05:002010-12-04T08:27:31.015-05:00Christmas is a lot of things to me<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9IQ0HPW9ebQ/TPmgzOcmUnI/AAAAAAAAH6Y/TkBeEq_Lhdc/s320/IMG_0848.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546641217995297394" />

Mostly it's a celebration of Christ's birth. A reflection of the past year. A look forward to the new year. Time to give to those less fortunate (preferably, without making a big deal about doing so too). Time for family and friends that you don't get spend as much time with as you'd like to through out the year. Baking, caroling, decorating (my family LOVES the decorating).

Growing up I was a preacher's kid, followed by a Air Force chaplain's kid (Yes, I am a PK/CK which is a precher's kid/chaplain's kid/military brat. Since I moved so much growing up, the decorating and the baking were the tangible things that made the holiday, no matter where we were, feel like we were home. The traditions I grew up with...like the celebration of Advent my husband and I have past on to our own children. Another tradition we have is we put up 2 old artificial trees 14 & 12 years old, respectively, every year. Some may think it's excessive, and, yes, it isn't necessary, but the 14 year old one my husband and I bought at Target Greatland in Ft. Myers during our 2nd Christmas together for $29.99 (along with the $1.99 ornaments we bought to fill in the empty space that year, and we still have those ornaments). We've taken very good care of it and it has lasted. A lot of fond memories of friends and relatives who have passed on are attached to that little tree. Most of the kiddos handmade ornaments and ornaments given to them by family members now adorn that little tree. The other tree we bought was a little larger and we bought it the 2nd year in our house. The ornaments on that tree are from around the world, as they belonged to my husband when he was a kid & to me when I was a kid. There are also the ornaments we bought on our honeymoon. The ones that commemerate the births of each of our children. There is literally a story behind every single one. The kids love hearing the stories and putting them up is one of their favorite things to do each year. In a since these trees contain our family history, and it doesn't matter if there's a lot or a little underneath them... it is what they represent to us...family, and all the times and things that God has brought us through.

I am a fan of teachers and respect the job they do. Following I just had to get off my chest to move on with my day.

I'm missing my daughter's first day of kindergarten because I FORGOT to request the day off, because I've been worried about various thing regarding employment for those I deeply care about all summer long (and still a little now). I'm in a really grouchy mood and feeling really stupid for not remembering to request the day off.

While I'm feeling guilty about missing this milestone due to working, I've come across several friends on Facebook who are all teachers. Now in their defense and before I start my rant, they do have a very tough job, and they put up with a lot of things I can't even imagine, nor do I want to imagine, when it comes to dealing with the parents of the children who attend their classes. I do, however, find it highly amusing that it's only the teachers who have never done anything other than teach that consistently have posted things for the past few weeks like: "I'm so sad to see summer go." "Wow! I've got to get use to these early morning hours again!" "So sorry that I don't have a few more weeks of summer left, but it's back to "real life" on Monday." Aaaarrrrrgggghhhh!!! Do they not realize that the rest of the working world only gets 2 weeks vacation & 6 holidays as a norm??? Do they not realize that "real life" consists of not being off all summer???

Anyway, this all made me angry because A) I'm already feeling sorry for myself, and B)in spite of what people think about those of us who work in television, we make less than most people think. I, in fact, after working in TV for over 13 years make less than most of my teacher friends who've worked less than 10 years.

Keep in mind that because I work in television the following is true about my life: I work every holiday unless I've requested a particular holiday off. I then wait to find out if that holiday is approved off. If it's not, then I work it anyway and am paid holiday pay. I've worked at this particular station long enough that I do, fortunately, receive 3 weeks of vacation per year (in 3 and 1/2 years I'll get 4 weeks unless something changes with the policy). If there's a hurricane I don't see my family. I don't evacuate the state. In fact I begin living at the station to make sure that I don't miss my 12 hours shift during said hurricane coverage, AND did I mention that I get up a 3am (soon to be 2:30am) on my normal regular work days so people can watch the news before they go off to their "early morning" jobs. Yeah, hearing the constant stream these of these posts for the past few weeks has just set me off a little...sorry.

I deeply respect & admire all of my teacher friends, and in NO WAY want to belittle what they do. I just would like them to realize what back to the "real world" really means to most people.

ANYWAY, none of this changes the fact that I screwed up and I'm missing a milestone that I will never get the chance to see again. Which is what made me touchy to the posts in the first place. At least my hubby took pictures for me.

Moving on now...Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-21706165669146284732010-06-16T09:12:00.003-04:002010-06-16T09:23:40.502-04:00Don't you love when "real life" gets in the way?I realize that it has been, literally, months since I posted ANYTHING on this blog. I missed everyone terribly, but life, while challenging, has caused me to actually want to "live it" again. After all the gloom that was last year, and no not all of that is gone we are still experiencing challenges EVERYDAY, I decided that life is too short not too actually do something with it. My family and I have spent more time together and less time on electronics, and that's a plus. I have new friends that care about me. My family attends a great church that, actually CARES about it's members and their families and the struggles that they face. While all this is great it's made for me needing to reorganize how I've been doing things, and sadly I have let some things slack as of late, but I am presently trying to rectify those things like this blog and the wonderful support group I found here. I apologize for being gone so long! My exercise and weight loss have been sporadic so I am beginning that adventure all over again, thankfully, I haven't regained all that I lost, but I've gained back more than I should have for certain. The good news? All of these things I've let fall by the wayside can be fixed and I am hopeful as I restart this adventure.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-61573308686622441872009-12-01T11:18:00.003-05:002009-12-01T12:45:26.111-05:00Just wanted to catch everyone up that didn't already knowI haven't posted anything on my blog since early October, and then it was all about my mother-in-law's battle with cancer. Well, for all those on facebook and twitter ya'll already know this, but for those who only follow this blog she did pass away on October 5th.

The holidays, so far, haven't been too bad (don't get me wrong, Thanksgiving was rough, but not as hard as anticipated).

The kiddos have already taken their picture with Santa and the house is decorated. We're all looking forward to Christmas.

I'm hoping after the New Year to get back to posting more regularly, but we'll see. Until then, {{{HUGS}}} to you all!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-60593673322343347292009-10-02T14:36:00.003-04:002009-10-02T14:48:00.401-04:00My mother in law...the latestJust a quick note:

My mother in law is in the hospital, and right now we're just trying to hold it together.

Her breast cancer came back with a vengence, and, unfortunately, has somehow invaded her liver which is now in the process of shutting down. There are a few things that the doctors are looking into, but right now there isn't much hope of her turning around this time. My husband & I took the kids to see her in the hospital, and she was coherent enough to know who they were and she was very happy to see them. The visit was very short as my mother in law is sleeping a lot. My father in law has already had a priest come in to give her last rites (as it was formerly know...now known as the sacrament of the anointing of the sick) & we're all pretty much waiting right now. There is a small chance that it is a blood clot that is causing the liver failure, but the fear is if that is the case and they fix that the liver may already be gone.

Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers. Telling the kids about everything was tough. Especially, when one of them isn't old enough to understand what's going on with everyone.

Thanks.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-14262145435011222009-06-09T16:18:00.003-04:002009-06-09T16:38:02.948-04:00My new start...I know again :-pI'd fallen so far off the wagon that I'm just starting over with the weight loss.

The good news: I haven't made it back to my all time high of 264.4 lbs Yay!
The bad news: I have gotten back to 243.4 lbs Yikes!

I know that this is entirely due to my lack of exercise.

So today I started using Wii Active, and I completely fell in love with it. Why? It has a journaling aspect that will definately keep me on track, and unlike My Fitness Coach it allows you to use the Wii Balance Board, and it allows you to decide low, medium or high impact for your workout. This is great since I recently reinjured my ankle and can workout on it, but I can't push it too much or I could cause further injury to that ankle. Even on the low impact I still got a fairly decent workout.

Anyway, I'm starting over today, and trying to take it a little bit at a time.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-65263095227081090722009-05-02T12:49:00.005-04:002009-05-02T12:56:49.757-04:00Not much going on, but here are the highlightsLife is slowly starting to slow down a bit. Work is still work and hubby and the kiddos are all relatively well and happy.

We've switched to Fios at our house and have LOVED it. More channels over all and more HD channels...woohoo! The best part? It's cheaper than what we had been using.

Started going back to church on a regular basis back in January and the kiddos love going where we attend now.

Weight loss has been going the wrong direction so my goal is to get back on the horse with exercise and eating well.

That's about all for now. I hope everyone else is doing well.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-17070460020533868482009-04-22T08:12:00.004-04:002009-04-22T08:14:59.170-04:00Wow! it's been nearly 3 months!I promise that I have been very busy, but I also have let several things slide. This blog for one...my weight for another.

I am going to try my best to get back on track with both shortly. In the meantime you can always follow the Twitter feed that I've added to the sidebar.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-36467153448980726612009-01-26T22:00:00.002-05:002009-01-26T22:05:19.957-05:00Weekly WeighinI have to get back on track...wow! So my goal this week is simple...exercise 3 days this week for 30 minutes (I mean I was doing 1 hour 5 days a week before I slipped...so back up on that horse as it were.) Anyway, here are my results and as always don't forget to head over to One Weigh at a Time to check on the rest of the group!

All time high weight: 264.4 lbs
Weight last week: 215.4 lbs
This week's weight: 216.4 lbs

This week's personal gain: 1 lb.

Overall loss since October 8, 2007: 48.0 lbs

I have been eating well, and that showed in my body fat loss this week, but without exercise I know that I can't sustain that...so back to it!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-37605805107117378582009-01-21T09:28:00.003-05:002009-01-21T10:05:49.313-05:00No weigh in for me this weekLots going on at work and at home, but mostly work...the Super Bowl...Gasparilla...and yesterday the inauguration...not that any of these have a direct impact on my workload (except Gasparilla), but the station has stayed busy with coverage. A lot of the people I work with have stuff they have to do with the Super Bowl. I am more of a backup for that (well backup for the week leading up to anyway).

What I'm trying to say, in not so many words, is this:
I had to cancel my weigh in appointment this week in order to concentrate
on other stuff so I can't really give an accurate update to everyone at this
point. I will be back up and running with an update next week.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07744352807647832345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580820352974089813.post-74716246896026529562009-01-13T09:25:00.002-05:002009-01-13T09:30:03.592-05:00Weekly Weigh InQuick post...here are my results for this week...slowly getting back on track!
