I'm trying to catch up!

For whatever reason the vacation in Colorado nearly 1 month ago and Thanksgiving being late this year has messed with the flow of my normal holiday progression.

NORMALLY, we have Thanksgiving, followed by my hubby decorating the outside of the house and all of us decorating the inside of the house. Then I typically have about a week to prep for "Big Stuff's" birthday (get his birthday picture taken, the party, etc.) which is in early December. Then get the cards out, take "Big Stuff and Lil Bit" to see Santa, and lastly finish any shopping. In between there's lots of baking, movie watching, story telling, teaching my kids about Christmas, and of course family time.

Weeeeeeellllll, this year the outside of our house IS done, but the inside is only partially done still. "Big Stuff's" Birthday went fantastically well, but at the moment we have birthday present placement (meaning finding a place for his presents in his room and not all over the house) going on admist the decorating for Christmas inside. We have watched a few movies, the kids saw Santa yesterday, and I believe all the shopping with the exception of what the kids and I are getting my hubby is DONE. I almost had my cards but there's been a little issue with Snapfish nothing major, but I haven't gotten my cards to send them out yet. HOWEVER, in spite of my discombobulation, I am enjoying my time with my family doing silly little things running around in penguin socks and "skating" on the floor and traditional stuff like baking cookies.

I am really trying to get back on track, but I have a feeling it will be sometime in 2009 before that happens, but I don't think I'll hold my breath. :-)

I do hope that you all are well and that your holidays are progressing nicely as well.

I'm back after my project...here's what you missed!

The telethon went well...despite the present economy the Tampa Bay Area Raised over 4 Million dollars for All Children's Hospital.

I have now re-entered the blogosphere and am now going to update you on the status of my weight loss:

THE RECAP

May 19, 2008 - a gain week

Starting Weight: 264.4 lbs.
New Weight: 218.0 lbs.
Weight gained this week: 0.2 lb.
Total lost: 46.4 lbs

May 28, 2008 - a loss week

Starting Weight: 264.4 lbs.
New Weight: 217.8 lbs.
Weight lost this week: 0.2 lb.

That's right I lost exactly what I gained the week before!

Total lost: 46.6 lbs

AND NOW WE'VE COME TO:

June 2, 2008

Starting Weight: 264.4 lbs.
New Weight: 215.6 lbs.
Weight lost this week: 2.2 lb.
Total lost: 48.8 lbs

Thanks for keeping me honest!!! I'm getting there!

Took "Big Stuff" to see Prince Caspian...he loved it (He also loved the "date" with mom. "Little Bit" had a "date" with dad that night too and went to Best Buy and got some movies she liked...I believe they were Princess Stories of some sort).

"Oma and Opa" watched "Big Stuff" & "Little Bit" long enough for Hubby and I to go out for dinner last night...just the two of us! A grown up meal with hubby (whom I haven't seen in about a week because of my real job...and trying to keep the kids happy because of all the extra work hours). It was fun!

and now we are down to one child the rest of this week as "Big Stuff" is with his "Oma and Opa" for a little time with them. We were going to be completely childless for a week as "Little Bit" was going to be with one of her favorite people "Mac" (and "Papa" too of course) this week for some intensive potty training and fun, but "Mac" (aka my mom) had somethings beyond her control come up (don't you love it when things our out of your hands?!?!?) and she had to take care of those...I don't know who was more disappointed "Mac" or "Little Bit"...actually, I'm thinking "Mac", but I told her not to worry. We're enjoying the special time with "Little Bit".

That's about it from here.

Scarlet Fever?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!

Sooooo I take "big stuff" to the doctor because he's itching like crazy!!!! He has no fever, no rash, nothing other than the horrible itching. Of course this is all before I get to the doctor...his teachers at school will even back me up on this. Anyway, we get to the doctor's office and he is still itching...we're talking Benedryl oral and topical in use and NOTHING is touching this itch. Takes his temp...98.4 (F){that would be approximately 36.9 (C) for the rest of the world so pretty close to normal...low even}(ok that's good), then the doctor check's his throat...a little red...so they ask "big stuff" if it hurts "NO!!! BUT I"M ITCHING!!!!!!!!" They lift his shirt to check his heart and wonder upon wonders...there's a rash bright red all over his back. "Let's do a throat culture....positive for strep. " "Big stuff" are you sure your throat doesn't at least itch???" "NO!!!! IT DOESN'T, BUT MY SKIN ITCHES EVERYWHERE!!!!" Doctor says he's got Scarlet Fever and can go back to school in 2 DAYS The doctor's got to be joking...Scarlet Fever?!?! Doesn't that kill people, and how on EARTH did he get it? "He probably got it at school...all it is...is strep throat with a fine red rash" (Must've read the befuddled look on my face). "He'll itch a lot tomorrow but he'll be fine. Have him eat off of disposable flatware for the next few days."

Called the school and said," "Big Stuff" has Scarlet Fever." AND the school said, "Ok and he'll be back in about two days, right?" Me (in utter shock), "Right." School, "Ok, tell him we hope he feels better, and we'll let his teachers know."

Scarlet Fever...who knew?!?!?!

A public apology to my Hubby

Ok, I've got good news & bad news which really isn't bad news but that phrase always sounds good.

First the bad news:
I commented yesterday about what I thought I would end up coming home to with Hubby not feeling well and I'm big enough to say that I WAS 100% WRONG AND I'M SORRY! I came home and the kids were taking really good care of their daddy, and he was eating it up. I did get the Micky D's part right, but Hubby did get a hot bath and then he actually stayed in bed and rested, and he did not get upset with anyone so the kids were very helpful and all in all...the world went on spinning without so much as a blip on the radar.

And now the good news:
Hubby just had a really bad allergy attack and he is much better today! Yay!!!!

Thank you all for the well wishes!

Hubby's sick...World comes to an end!

Now before I start getting hate mail from the guys out there: My hubby admits that he is a "bad sicky" (those are his words not mine!)

Anyway, like the rest of the United States, I suppose, the flu is going around down here, and thanks to the Flu vaccine focusing on the wrong strain this year (and NO I'm not saying not to get a flu shot...this is something that just happens from time to time) Hubby's entire office is coming down with OR is out with OR is fighting off the flu. Hubby seems to be falling into option 3, but by tomorrow who knows.

Hubby was suppose to drop his car off this morning for an oil change and then the dealership would drop him off at work and at lunch time I'd pick him up and take him to his car. We would then MAYBE grab lunch if there was time. However, Hubby overslept...I had to reschedule the car appointment...and then "little bit" woke up so since he was already late and she wanted DAAAADDY...he took her to daycare (see Hubby's a good guy...and does deserve kudos too) leaving me to get ready for work and getting "big stuff" off to school.

About 9am I get a text saying that he's fighting off a headache and he'd still like to have lunch. So, we set up to have lunch and around 12:30p he picks up lunch and brings it to my office (more kudos), but when I see him he looks like death warmed over!

Hubby: "Am I hot?"

Me: "You don't feel warm."

Hubby: "Ok"

We eat pretty much in silence...

Me: "If you were feeling so bad you didn't have to bring lunch..."

Hubby: "I thought getting out would make me feel better...I'm sorry"

Me: "For what?"

Hubby: "I'm a bad sicky"

Me: "When I get home tonight you go straight to bed...I've got everything under..."

Hubby: "I don't want to..."

Me: "You want to be sick for your birthday?"

Hubby: "Well...it is tradition (weak laugh)"

Me: "Just get some rest ok? I've got the kids. Don't worry about anything."

Hubby leaves to go back to work.

After being married for as long as we have I know how this will go. He'll push himself through the rest of his workday, then pick up "big stuff" and "little bit", maybe let them have Micky D's for dinner, get home and instead of resting he'll find some project to start or some game to play, and because he feels bad, by the time I get home one or both of the kids will be in time out and he'll be fumming about something that he normally wouldn't like spilled popcorn (another story for another time), and when I suggest that he go to bed and get some rest and let me take care of everything he'll storm off in a, albeit sick, huff and say "I'm not tired, but if it will make you feel better FINE!!!" 5 minutes later I'll hear snoring coming from the other room, but, no, he wasn't tired.

Tomorrow, provided he doesn't actually have the flu, he'll feel better and then apologize to the kids for being a "Grumpy Daddy" and I'll hear the "Sorry, you were right...I should have listened" speech. On the other hand if he does have the flu, he will stay home from work, go to the doctor, and then sleep until Monday, and will then wonder why the weekends "just FLY by". Meanwhile, I'll be exhausted from trying to keep everyone else in the house healthy and quiet...including myself!

Oh well, I just want him to feel better soon.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I have really been busy these past few days, and really nothing is going on in my life that is interesting enough to write about...unless you're interested in the Potty Training and the "Sharing" that involves one of my children picking and inventor and an invention to share with their class. Let's just say that Google and Wikipedia have been a must have in our house these past few weeks.

Well, today is Valentine's Day and we've gotten the kids their presents...one got a new bathing suit for swimming and the other got a movie. My husband and I surprised me last weekend with a nice dinner (I know the chef) and a babysitter so we could have and entire night away from home to just be a couple again. Don't get me wrong...I love my children, but I think everyone needs time with there spouse from time to time to remember why you're together in the first place and to get to know the person they've become over the years. Cause, let's face it, I'm not the girl my husband married! Oh she's still in here, but she's evolved and changed as life has happened to her. I like that I'm not the same. I like that my husband isn't the same. AND we date each other so that we don't become just our children's parents. I don't know...it's worked for my parents and it's worked for my husband's parents as well.

ANYWAY!!! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Another weight update and life update

Just a quick update...went to the doctor yesterday and I lost 1.8lbs so the grand total is now 29.8lbs The nurse said I could say 30lbs. but me being me needs it to really be 30lbs before I say 30lbs so it's 29.8lbs.

My baby girl got her ears pierced this past Sunday and she didn't squirm or cry (which is a BIG DEAL for a 2 and 1/2 year old). She's very proud of them too...showing everybody. Her potty training is also coming along nicely as well :-)

I have to brag on my little man as well. He was soooo worried about his baby sister when she got her ears done that convinced my dear hubby to go get her a cookie (and one for himself of course, but dear hubby did say that his sister was his main concern!)

Holidays are officially over as EVERYONE is back to work and school. Now maybe things will calm down...yeah right!

{{{HUGS}}} to all!

Craziness

Can't write much at the moment, but here's the craziness of the day:

Took my son for his yearly check-up. He freaked out! about the blood pressure cuff, but was overall ok. He's doing great and growing well, and calmed down very quickly after his freaking out stage. Ahh...he's getting much better at controlling himself. All in all he had a fabulous birthday party this past weekend...lots of kids came and they and their parents all had a blast...if you've never been to a Pump It Up I'd suggest going to one in your area at least once as they are a ton of fun! Here's the best part though...on the day of his actual birthday, I took the day off from work to spend with him at school and help out with his class...and he told me that THAT was the best thing about his birthday...he said it made him feel really special! (I think I'm going to cry!)

The announcement was made at work today...and I survived again. Still waiting to see how much OT this may cause in the future. The mood around here is a little somber to say the least. The person who was cut it taking it as well as can be expected, but we're all still pretty bummed.

Well, I guess I better get back to it...That's it for now!

If you’re a mom or if you know a mom you’ll appreciate this! (Orignially posted on Tuesday, September 11, 2007)

One of my friends has this video on her profile on Myspace and I watched it and it is the FUNNIEST thing (even if it is true!) that I've seen in a while! I found it soooo funny, in fact, that I had to add it to my profile, but I also wanted to comment on it too.

Total Momsense Clip

I've caught myself saying a few of those things...more than once actually...and SWORE that it was my own mom possessing my body long enough to say the things that I SWORE SIX WAYS TO SUNDAY I would NEVER SAY to my own children...such as "Because I said so." and "You don't need to know the reason why." Unfortunately, those are sometimes, not always, but sometimes the best answers to the myriad of questions coming out of children who are only testing there boundries. Ahhh, parenthood...the great equalizer (well at least one of them).

And I go on laughing...
